I’m absolutely over the moon right now. Just thought maybe someone here may need that extra added motivation to kick life in the ass. I loved my previous job; great pay, benefits, was held in high regard and as high as I wanted to go in the department I could get there. Truly thought I would retire where I was. Then a few months ago the company decided it was going to turn my previous department into contractors. Pay would have remained the same but the benefits were going to take a severe hit. As the sole provider for my family, I was in panic mode for weeks. The job market is terrible where I live and the job that I loved was no longer going to be a long term option. Shortly after the announcement Another department had some openings so I decided to apply. I had absolutely no buisness applying; under-qualified, no background, no knowledge, no prerequisites. But it was the only immediate option. The first obstacle to even be granted an interview was to prepare and take a specialized placement test. Working 60+ hours a week on top of family time was incredibly hard to prepare and study. But I was able to be one of the few that passed it from my department. Went on to the panel interview and absolutely crushed it. And I have officially received a job offer! More pay, less hours, better benefits, and will be able to go just about anywhere if need be. BET ON YOURSELF!
