OVERALL COMPOSITE SCORE
Dillon Gabriel = 1.91
Cam Ward = 2.91
Kyle McCord = 3.39
Will Howard = 3.83
DJ Uiagalelei = 4.09
Riley Leonard = 4.52
I think it's safe to say Will Howard's numbers will see an uptick this season. If we were to compare these numbers at the midway point of the season (presuming Howard is the starter) I'm almost certain his overall composite score will jump ahead of Honda's, and potentially Cam Ward's as well.
Areas I'm expecting improvement in are production on the deep ball and short throws. Howard was 5th and 6th respectively in those two categories in terms of adjusted completion percentage last season. With two dynamic backs in the backfield, and a plethora of talent at receiver, I believe Howard can jump 2-3 spots up each of those ranks. I'm also anticipating Howard's total scrambles to eclipse well over 8 this year as I hope he won't feel the need to force throws when he doesn't have to and create on his own. Especially if he's clocking in at over 22mph. Finally, his play action passing should greatly improve with the rushing presence that Ohio State is entering the season with already. As team's try to load the box, I believe the play action will be a huge part of the Buckeyes offensive identity this season and once again Howard has the weapons surrounding him at WR to expect a reasonable uptick in production there as well.
