With the increase in scholarships, do yall think that we will target/set aside a certain number to instate kids who would’ve been a pass in years past?
Hey Southern Buck. I did a segment on this the other day. I think this is likely to add another 5 in state guys per cycle at the bottom of the class. With 105 on the roster you need developmental guys that are going to stick around. You look at a guy like Nolan Davenport this year who we turned away to Wisconsin. This is likely a guy in the new format that we would’ve kept. Probably Cedric Works, Jermiel Atkins, Duane Galloway all Ohio guys from this cycle who are lacking in one area but have high upside.
What you’re not gonna wanna do is fill your roster with the next highest rated guys after your standard 85 imo. We lost 25 guys in the portal last year Georgia lost 25 Texas lost 24. I don’t see any reason why that number is gonna go down substantially. Add onto that graduation and NFL and that’s a whole Lotta guys you gotta replace every year. You don’t want to add that by bringing a bunch more dudes who think they can play and year 1/2 or 3. You want long-term guys that believe in the program and the plan. As upset as I am about losing walk ons, I do believe this is the way the Buckeyes are going to go about this so it makes me a little happier.
