Super chats/live podcast

This would have been a massive super chat.. so I'm happy to pay for it lol.

I wanted to touch on how everyone says Michigan was a great team last year and didn't need to cheat to win. Which I agree with. But why were they a great team? In '22 and '23 they had great transfer classes - which was due to their recent success, which came from cheating. So basically their championship* team consisted of their best players returning, combined with transfer players who filled important voids for them. I guess my point is, they never would have had those great transfer classes if it weren't for their success due to cheating.

I just don't think it's as simple as saying "They didn't even need to cheat because they were a great team regardless".
Jimmy would have also been fired before last season if they did not have the cheating success they had.

Bourbon & Ball at 7:00 PM - Quinn Ewers!

Zach! Just migrated to the website today. Do you think we could get "dark mode" view for the website? Would be a bad ass aesthetic and will help my eyes greatly! Thanks Commander and Chief :) 🫡

staff changes at Central Michigan

totally normal for late July, right?

" ... Jake Kostner, who's been serving as CMU's quarterbacks coach, is not expected to remain with the Chips, sources tell FootballScoop.

Kostner is a Grand Haven, Michigan, native with deep ties in the state after working four years under former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh as a student-assistant in the Wolverines football program ... "

The UM hammer is nigh!!!!!!

This is faster than usual for the NCAA but it's still going to be slow as heck. I wouldn't get my hopes up about the sanctions and punishment being metted out until 2025 at the soonest.

This punishment rumors came from a Michigan beat writer which means it's likely a push to get out in front of this and keep recruiting going.

There is no way some Michigan nerd has any idea what the punishments will be.

My thoughts:

Legally, the NCAA has much firmer ground to fight on vs restricting individuals from rights granted to regular students or punishing schools for allowing sexual assaults. The NCAA has nothing to lose by going through the discovery process, Michigan has everything to lose.

I think they feel like they have to set a strong example to deter cheating. The best way is a significant fine to the institution (8-digits) and levy heavy burden on coaches, financially and bureaucratically. Make life miserable with extra trainings and paperwork and time restrictions, and the university will enforce it because they don’t want to lose money again.

Vacating the 21, 22, and 23 seasons (played ineligible player in all games in Blake Corrum), losing the Natty, and a 3 year bowl ban seems appropriate. Literally no other fan base will ever recognize it. “Of course you won, you cheated.”

With NIL and the portal, they’ll bounce back in a few years, but they’ll forever be labeled cheaters.
