Thoughts tonight. Elbert hill and more

Some Evening Thoughts

On Elbert Hill and the official visit situation—I still expect him to be a Buckeye, and he has a chance to be a really, really good one. OSU should absolutely be the betting favorite, but with that being said, other schools are doing a better job of showing him love. That OV list, with OSU not on it, is a reflection of that.

Fair or not, Ohio kids often get treated like “Well, he’s coming to OSU anyway, so we don’t have to waste a ton of time,” and some of the elite Ohio prospects feel like if they were in other states, they’d be recruited harder.

I agree with them. Now, Elbert is ELITE, and OSU wants him—as they should. He’s the top athlete in the entire country, and if he doesn’t end up at OSU, the only ones to blame are the OSU staff. I won’t entertain any narratives that suggest otherwise. He’s an Akron kid—this needs to be a slam dunk.

I started this new anime about a kid born without limbs, skin, hands, feet—none of his five senses. He has to kill these demon gods to get them back. He gets these little injuries in the process, but the most crippling moment? When he randomly got his hearing back—he couldn’t function.

The whole time I was thinking, Oh yeah, he’s cold now, but when he can hear? It’s over for these demons. And it was the opposite…

Had me over here wondering—what sense would be the hardest to adjust to if you had learned to function at a high level without it, without even knowing it existed, and then boom—it’s there with no warning?

Foodie Boys just went to Barstool HQ to do a pizza review, and Chub Perm had on a cold fit that made me smile. Cause fashion might not be dead…

I’ve been experimenting with this new camera I got, and it’s absurd. Everything is so clear—clearer than my own eyes—and it’s a little crazy. But my favorite attachment is this disposable lens. It’s my cheapest one by far, but it makes everything look like it was shot on a disposable camera, and it’s easy to use.

Watching my siblings grow up, I realized I don’t think I want hyper-HD or anything crazy. I want it to feel like simpler times, and I think camera quality plays a big part in that.

Quick Takes:

• Bacon is overrated.

• We shouldn’t toast marshmallows.

• Bhad Bhabie is a top 5 business/media mind of her generation.

• Every household would benefit from having a baseball game on TV every night.

• James Harden is a better scorer than Kevin Durant—it’s a fact.

• Tracy McGrady is a better hooper than Giannis.

• We made Stephen A. Smith too powerful.

That’s some of my thoughts today—I’ll be back before you know it!
Don’t worry about what I do with my marshmallows and graham crackers.

Bhad Barbie is now a famous prostitute thanks to Kris being a subscriber 🤦🏿‍♂️.

Stephen A and LeBron are both hypocrites. Stephen A told players for years he be at the games come see him. LeBron said people criticizing is part of the game. Tired of this fool calling himself the best but always showing he soft batch cookies. Definitely ain’t from Cleveland 🤷🏿‍♂️.

Suggestions

Zach:
At the end of the Tyler Bowen Bourbon and Ball episode, you asked us to give you suggestions for future Bourbon and Ball episodes, etc.
Here are some ideas of mine:
Can you do breakdowns of games that you haven't gotten around to or games that predate the show? You did the 2015 Sugar Bowl, but I don't think you moved it over to the website. Some other cool ideas are 2016 The Game, 2006 The Game, 2003 Fiesta Bowl, your grandfather's last game in Ann Arbor, some Woody Hayes stuff if you can go that far back.

Can you work with Uncle Lou to do more stuff together either on your show or on his? His channel and yours are the CFB content I watch the most other than the games themselves by far.

Can we get more of these thoughts from Kris and/or more Korner episodes?

Can someone explain what the RSS feed is supposed to be and how you access it? I know it's listed as a benefit for some tiers, and I'm curious as to what it is.

Thank you for your consideration.

Constantine Baseball

Hello Menace Army, I've been in the army for awhile and know that there is nothing like it. I am a die hard Ohio State fan and watch the show every day.
I am a varsity baseball coach in Constantine Xichigan and would love your support. Any donations are appreciated and I am thankful for you just taking the time to read this post. I will have a banner with everyone who donates. If you donate more than $250 I will create a banner only for you and hang it on our outfield fence. Thank you again and GO BUCKEYES! Oh and this is totally TAX DEDUCTIBLE!!

Morning thoughts…

Two songs that would probably work while reading this:

Ian - lunch Break Freestyle

Drake – Die Trying

Feels like now is a good time to bring back some morning thoughts and little notes…

Max Riley committed yesterday, and it matters. Obviously, you want to win in-state battles and keep those kids as Buckeyes if they’re good enough—or at least on the fringe of good enough. Max is that.

A few people I’ve talked to have shared with me that Bowen is going to recruit aggressively, and closer to a skill-guy focus (if that makes sense). He probably isn’t the developer that Justin is, but he’s going to go out and get dudes. I’m not sure if landing the Ohio kid proves that, but it’s a really positive start. This needs to be a big class, and what I can say for sure is that the net will be cast wider.

I can feel myself becoming a baseball brother dad day by day… My little brother’s first sport is boxing, but there isn’t really a team element to it. We just go to the gym, he throws punches for an hour, and that’s it. It’s really fun, and he enjoys it, but there is a lonely element to it.

This will be his first year playing baseball, and it’s funny because all I want him to do is have fun. I told him that, and casually, he said, “I have more fun when I’m good at things.” So now all he wants to do is hit? Downside is… he’s gonna be a horrible outfielder.

Watching little humans grow is weird but really cool. I always thought it was exaggerated when we were kids and heard parents talk about it.

Art is so funny. Right now, it feels like two different worlds. One side mimics and pulls from things that were remembered as cool then.

The other half is pushing to be “cool” and create “cool art” so that they become the inspiration later on.

While that cycle seems endless, it’s always the weirdest of the weird that gets mimicked later and remembered as cool. Every now and then, something comes along that’s so unique—without trying to be cool—that it sticks around long enough to be recognized as genius. Only then does their work finally get the recognition it deserves while they’re still making it.

All that to say… I miss Mike Leach.

I got asked about my three favorite sodas on another podcast I do with my boy Tyler. I made sure to put Sprite up there, but not just any Sprite—McDonald’s Sprite, which is simply the crispest beverage in human existence and the only soda that somehow feels healthy when I drink it.

(Tried Orange Cream Coke last week—very elite and wildly underrated.)

Quick Fire Takes:

• Yes, I’m a Jets fan now.

• If the Giants draft Jaxson Dart, I’ll root for both. IDGAF.

• Bonnie Blue is in Cancun, and she’s up 20 on Lilly.

• Electric guitars on hip-hop songs are underrated.

• If Drake performs at the World Cup, he wins.

• If Kim K’s sex tape didn’t leak, IG models nba players fly out would look very different today.

• Aaron Judge is the best player in baseball—no debate until that one dude is an ace again.

• LeBron’s extended dominance, in the long run, is bad for the NBA.
