Is Natty or Bust fair for Ryan Day?

Your friend is clearly a well-educated Buckeye fan; like most people here. Not sure “natty or bust” is fair for Day because I’m not sure he’s that good of a head coach. At best he’s hot and cold.

Most of us are enamored with the off-season he’s constructed. It’s been unbelievable. However, the last time he took the field we were gifted the FUCKING DISASTER against MISSOURI! Leading up to said FUCKING DISASTER, we learned they held six (of a possible fifteen) bowl practices. A few years prior he handed us Coombs as the DC. Based on interviews and pressers, the man never struck me as someone who is gifted with a high IQ. FFS, he said he wasn’t an X’s and O’s guy. Day corrected that mistake with Knowles. After unfucking the Coombs mistake, he followed Wilson’s departure by promoting a WR recruiter to OC, moved a cousin to QB coach, and promoted another cousin to TE coach. That issue is hopefully fixed with Chip Kelly.

My point is it’s not just an issue of roster alignment, it’s also a matter of which Day we get. They’re not just lining up the front sight, they need to line the rear sight up too. I don’t think calculus applies to Smart and Saban. They were/are coaching at a level capable of winning NCs. Pretty sure Smart has figured it out. Having Saban as a mentor certainly helped. Not sure about Dabo. He seemed to figure it out then willfully forgot. Meyer seemed to do the same thing. Zach has mentioned “the chase” multiple times. It seemed like Meyer won an NC in 2014 then stopped chasing. Eddie O should transfer half his bank account to Burrow. As for Jimmy, I told anyone that would listen Michigan could win the NC if Ohio State could climb out of their slumber AND UGA managed to fuck up and miss the CFP. Styles make fights. UGA was Michigan’s cryptonite but didn’t end up playing them.

Is Natty or Bust fair for Ryan Day?

A good friend of mine who writes wrote this a little bit ago and him and i discussed it and he gave me permission to share it here and gather thoughts.

Realistic Pressure & Expectations by TM

We are all aware that Ohio State fans can be…spoiled…unfair…passionate…dramatic.
All of those things. That is also why Buckeye Nation is the brand that it is. As a Buckeye
fan, I try to be realistic as I can. I would say that my unfairness and spoiled takes come
when I see the punter run on the field more than once a game but that’s beside the
point.

Every year, The Ohio State Football Program has three goals: Beat Michigan, Win the
Big Ten and Win the National Championship. Lofty, but it comes with the territory. In
reality, the first goal is something that we should really expect every year. The other two
can be situational, especially winning the National Championship. If Ohio State plays a
good game against Georgia in the playoffs and they just happen to lose that night, it will
sting but that’s the game you play…most years.

What we’re talking about right now is expectations for this team and Ryan Day. Here are
some simple facts. This team is either the most talented or second most talented team
in the country. This roster has played a lot of football. The schedule allows them time to
build and peak for the three big moments that they must face during the regular season.
At the very least, we should expect goals 1 & 2 to be accomplished this year. Ohio State
and Ryan Day must beat Michigan, thoroughly, and they must go to Indianapolis and
win the Big Ten.

Now let’s talk about goal #3. It’s time. And I say that because if not now, when? Let me
break that down for you. I won’t say never but rosters this talented and experienced like
this don’t come around very often. There are really only four teams I feel that can win
the whole thing in a 12-team playoff: Georgia, Ohio State, Texas and Oregon. It is also
time for Ryan Day to make it happen. Here is a list of all the coaches who really matter
in the last 14 years and how long they had been a Head Coach before they won their
first National Championship:

Nick Saban: 10 th Season
Urban Meyer: 6 th Season
Dabo Swinney: 8 th Season
Kirby Smart: 6 th Season
Ed O: 8 th Season
Jim Harbaugh: 13 th Season
Ryan is in his 6 th season. He has entered the window. It is time. No settling this year
Buckeye Nation. Natty or Bust.

Zion Grady BOOM

We got Carter lowe, but he's from Toledo. I agree, frye needs to start landing some of the big fish OR proving he can develop 3 stars to first rounders, or he won't last past the next 2-3 yrs
I just don't get it. His position group is the only one not landing absolute DUDES..just a question lol

Zion Grady Edge from the state of Bama commits to OSU who already at least points wise has a better class than they put together last year.
A few months ago this is someone who I have on my 5 Star radar even though he is currently a 4 star.

Kid has verified size at 6-4 235
Has the production back to back years.
Big time athlete (plays basketball as well)

Thats 3 of the state of Bamas bet 5 players. With Saban gone it feels like Ryan Day and OSU want that state like its a game of risk.

I just got back from NJ with Pat and will stream and watch his tape tonight or Wednesday.
When do we start getting badass offensive linemen though? Not a shot at anybody but with all the big names, the only position I haven't heard from this summer is the offensive line. Pretty soon we are going to hear from Ryan day that lathan ransom has been taking reps at right guard. LOL

Yeah he has replied to a lot of Zions post too. What's up with Jordan Davidson, why would people say he would commit to a ttun 3 man class but not an Osu one.
Jordon Davison was on campus this past weekend at a fat 240lbs and I hear money is talking to him. If he don't wanna play for us, I don't want him. A RB built like the fat Zion Williamson has discipline issues.

It's mcnutt that worries me, being an Ohio kid and legacy. Id like to get him bc of that, but if we get Brew, I'll be cool not getting mcnutt. I also feel like we need David Sanders and to keep the guys we currently have, if these things happen I will be on cloud 9 no matter what else happens.

Trades in CFB

When are we going to get trades in CFB? Because I think sayin is the truth and could fetch us a tackle or two, but I want to have TSC be the dude for 3 years. I cannot wait to see that guy play for us, and definitely don't want him sitting 2/3 years.
I'd rather have Sayin for 2 years then let TSC take over for a year or 2 and hopefully we land a good QB in 2026.

This is a big deal, love to see it! Bama and Deboer is still doin their thing down there tho, Oregon as well. We need to keep our Ohio kids like mcnutt in state, and lock down David Sanders.
i am very worried about not landing McNutt but this is going to be a 320 class in terms of points and thats hyper elite

If we add malik too, that would be huge. Also, I think getting these Bama kids helps keep offord. Has anyone heard any info on david sanders?
Im almost ready to put in writing that we land him... Getting there and we lead currently. Zeke feels really good about landing him and what was used was "better than expected and we expected the visit to go very well" so take it for what it is worth
