Morning Thoughts
Listening to
Scorpion by Drake. Long album. Really good. Maybe even better when it’s grey out.
And honestly, if you’re not into that, what never fails is Iris (Live in Buffalo, NY – 2004).
Trail Notes and Thoughts
MG is flexing his chops a little bit. He’s getting better at recruiting, and the messaging is getting sharper. That should worry everyone across the country because of how quickly he’s putting it all together.
Going into Louisiana to get Bradford is an exceptional pull, and the family makes it sound like a flip isn’t happening. (Though that’s what you’re supposed to say right now.)
Sounds like LSU may have done the thing where they just assumed the kid was in and didn’t put in max effort… while OSU did.
Simeon Caldwell is likely going to end up as a linebacker, but that’s another really big-time pull.
The next safety I’m paying attention to is Donovan Webb—I’ve been told OSU likes him. Could be one of those underrated kids who shoots up boards soon. Already has offers from OSU, Oregon, Michigan, and a bunch of other big dogs.
I still think we land Elbert Hill too.
Couple Practice Notes:
- TSC is coming along, day by day.
- Lincoln is struggling with the deep ball.
- Julian’s been up and down—but when he’s up? It’s REALLY up.
- Some young defenders are flashing early. (Might buy just a little bit of stock in Eli Lee and Faheem while I’m shopping.)
On yesterday’s baseball show (go watch if you’re a baseball fan), I said I thought the Yankees were punting on the game… and of course, the offense exploded.
Watching the way the Yankees swing the bat—even on days when it’s not going great—you always feel like the damage can come quick. That’s such a luxury. Makes me feel bad for the Reds and their fans.
One of the best pitching staffs in the sport. You’ve got Elly. And yet… no offense. That’s gotta be exhausting. First time in 60 years they’ve lost 3 straight games 1-0. (Torpedo bats were supposed to fix this…)
In other baseball news: We are watching the best of this generation.
Games it took Aaron Judge to reach 5 home runs:
- 2024: 28 games played
- 2025: 6 games played
He ended 2024 with 58 home runs.
Quick Takes
- I just told Zach I think Brady Quinn was a good QB—and I’ll stand on that. Just gotta “bad QB adjust” it.
- Drinking tea out of a Spode makes it taste better.
- Kickball is the most important recess activity.
Hope y’all had a good week, gang.
