Are we fair to Day.....Urban vs Day. Possible show topic?

Are you considering Urban's time at Florida when you discuss this? My other point is that we shouldn't penalize Urban for a random loss to a shitty team even if it's a blowout since those games don't matter in hindsight, especially now. We all know the 2018 team was definitely one of the four best in America, and I would honestly rather lose 5 games and beat TTUN than lose to TTUN and go to some bowl game or lose in the CFP (I still watch the highlights from The Game 2004 today but I don 't do that with any of 2022 Ohio State's games). The committee made a dumbass decision picking OU over Ohio State that year.
My pecking order of Ohio State coaches goes (including their accomplishments at other jobs):
1. Woody Hayes
2. Urban Meyer
3. Jim Tressel
4. Paul Brown
5. Ryan Day
Ryan did a great job in those four games, but if u wanna rank him higher, he needs a second outright win against TTUN (I'm getting sick of talking about that COVID game, that shouldn't be our only "win" in the last 5 years against those bastards) and he needs to do a good job replacing this staff and players to climb that ladder.
So I wasn't including urban florida time. And just incase in matters I'm not a Day apologist. I was definitely a fire him after the game this year guy. This is more of me just sitting and thinking while I drank my morning coffe in silence before work. I just wonder if because Urban won a NC so soon and he took care of TTUN. If we give him more grace for his tenure. After 14, we had very bad hires, bad games, embarrassing Playoff loss. I am in not way saying Day is above any of those coaches you listed. And all of these guys coaches in much different eras of each other so it's very hard to go Apples for apples. I do think Day has faced and coaches in a completely uncharted time in college football. NIL is a big change to how you can coach and also how yiu can even recruit. Now I think given time urban would have mastered it. But it all boils down to TTUN. If day was 4-2 or crazy even 6-0 like urban, we would be putting him up there and maybe even a head of him if you compare the two. This is just some shit I'm wondering and maybe even a little devils advocate. Just having fun with talking to the army. Thanks for the convo army

Urban always had games that we should have beat the hell out of the other team and they would allow 150 fucking points. Zach was there for all of those and could tell us why that was but it was annoying. Ryan on the other hand wins all of those games and loses the biggest rivalry game. If I had to pick between the two it would be very difficult. If Ryan wins another natty I think he passes urban though.

That's very true. I am no Day apologist by any means. I was just sitting and thinking about this. I feel like most fans and even Kris on the show, always talk so highly of Urban and have these rose colored glasses on. And we second guess and really give Day shit about recruits and hires and decisions. But Urbans time was just as riddled with bad coaching hires, keeping guys on staff too long. Hiring his buddies, loosing to unranked teams, Purdue, iowa. Bad losses like Michigan state. I mean was that Michigan state game plan any worse the this past years TTUN game plan. Only difference is urban should have ran it, and day should have passed it. But both mistakes. And those weren't 3 point losses, they were blowouts by unranked teams. Also a complete embarrassing loss to Clemson in the playoffs. The times are for sure different with the playoffs expanding, maybe Urban wins multiple NC in a 12 team format. I just think it's very easy to love Urban because he won his NC early so he was always given the benefit of the doubt, and he always beat TTUN. If you set that aside his tenure was just as fucked up and Days. And Urban was known as one of the best head coaches ever. Truth be told we have to remember this is Days first HC job. He didn't get to have the Bowling Green, Utah jobs to make forgivable mistakes.

Sorry to be long winded, just reflecting as I wait to head to work. Thanks yall

Urban 7 Seasons. Day 6 seasons
National Champ (1) National Champ (1)
Champ app (1) Champ app (2)
Total Record (83-9) Total Record (70-10)
TTUN Record (7-0) TTUN (1-4) (2-4)*
Big Ten Champ (3) Big Ten Champ (2)
Wins vs Top 10 (13-4) Wins vs Top 10 (15-8)
Wins vs Top 5 (6-2) Wins vs Top 5 (7-6)
Playoff appearances (2) Playoff app (4)
Playoff record (1-1) Playoff record (5-3)
Bowl record (4-2) Bowl record (6-4)
Loss to unranked (3) Loss to unranked (1]

Obviously each of them have unique games and things that may have happened. But just wanted to see the 2 guys stacked up. The big difference is obviously TTUN. Urban should probably have had a National championship in 2012. But we can't deny Ryan has had some crazy misfortunes against him. 2019 Clemson game ans the 2022 Georgia game. Day had not just bad calls, but calls that where reversed from in the field. He should have been in the NC game in 2019 and would have probably won th NC game in 2022. So besides the TTUN. Day has been just as productive if not more than Urban. In his tenure. Just food for thought
added context to that "playoff appearances" stat. The 2012 was natty bound, only to be hindered by sanctions that had nothing to do with Urban or that team. In addition, Ryan has an unfair advantage since he's got an extra appearance solely based on the playoffs accepting more teams. Urban's first two years were still under the BCS system and the last 5 were under the four team CFP. If there was a twelve team playoff, Urban wouldn't have missed the playoffs ONCE (nor would Ryan, but you get my point).

2024 OSU Transfers (out)

This is great! To be honest there isn’t one of these players that would have made a difference or seen the field this year. Maybe the punter but our punter wasn’t a problem this year. Go Bucks
I agree. I don’t see anyone on this list that really assists us in winning the title this season. Especially not Julian Fleming, what a waste of time he was
